Naturalist Julie Quarry

Julie Quarry represents the Naturalist Pentaxian. Julie has a natural ability to capture the world in her photos.

On a trip two years ago to Embaria, Panama, I was given a PENTAX digital SLR camera to snap a few pictures. I captured an image of a little Kuna girl from the San Blas Islands with a lizard on her head. At that instant, all the planets seemed to align for me. The girl’s image was so stunning, and the moment so spiritual, it was as if I was seeing the world for the first time.

Photography feeds my soul.  It’s what gets me up in the morning, eager to capture the world before it’s awake. Photography allows me to see things others pass by, become part of my surroundings, and capture Mother Nature in her purest form. I’ve been blessed with a natural eye for composition, which has transformed who I am, how I feel, and how I view the world.
