PENTAX

Inspirationalist Mark Dimalanta

My love for both photography and surfing started in my
early childhood, while growing up in Southern
California. I began shooting with a PENTAX Program
Plus and continued to document my life on film, even
while pursuing what my family felt to be a more
“honorable profession”–medicine. My life was on course
and I was pursuing, what I believed, to be the life I
wanted. During this time, I was stricken with a life
changing illness and faced the possibility of
permanent disability. ‘My life’ was no longer what I
had planned.

It was during this crossroad that I made the bold
decision to put down my stethoscope and pursue my true
passion of photography. Life seldom gives second
chances, but I took mine and ran with it.

I’ve now almost fully recovered and have absolutely no
regrets about the career and life changes I have made.
I’m back on a surfboard alongside my greatest heroes,
and telling their stories by capturing incredible
images.
